The meeting will take place at Vilnius University, Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics. The faculty is situated only a 10-minute walk from the Medieval Old Town.

Visa and Invitation Letter
All foreign visitors entering Lithuania must have a valid passport. For some countries a visa or invitation letter is necessary. Information about visa requirements and the location of embassies can be found on the website of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For questions concerning visas please contact Conference Secretariat. Please apply for your visa well in advance of your journey.

Climate
Lithuania has a central European climate. The end of June and beginning of July generally is warm. Bring a sweater for a cool evening and an umbrella for a shower. To know more about the weather click here.

Transport and Travel Information

Arriving By Air
There are direct connections with many European cities and “hubs” including Copenhagen, London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Paris. The airport is located just outside the centre of Vilnius. A taxi will take you to the centre for around € 15.

Bus Services
Vilnius has an effective and cheap network of busses and trolleybusses. Public transport usually starts about 5 am and continues until 11 pm.

Taxi
Numerous taxis are operating in Vilnius. Taxi’s hired in street can be expensive and not always of the best quality. It is recommended to call Vilnius Veža Taxi Tel.: 1450 or +3705233 3337. The price for a taxi from the airport to the centre is around € 15, around 25-50 LTL.

Currency
The official currency in Lithuania is Litas. Litas is bound to € with 3.4528 Litas for € 1. Currency can be exchanged at the airport, banks and in hotels.

Credit Cards
Visa and Master Card are accepted in most shops, hotels and restaurants. You will find a cash dispenser on nearly every corner.

Electrical Appliances
The voltage in Lithuania is 220 volts.

Safety
The Baltic States are in general seen as a safe area with no imminent threat of terrorism or violence. In an international survey Vilnius is rated as the safest capital in the Baltic States and also safer than many European capitals.

Health
The hygienic standard in Lithuania in general has a very high level. No special precautions are needed, no special vaccinations required.

Shopping
Shops are generally open 10:00 – 19:00 on weekdays and from 9:00-17:00 on Saturdays. Many shops are open on Sundays as well. Most major shopping centers and supermarkets are open 8:00-24:00 daily.
